Jack turned 5 months old on the 13th, I can't believe how big he is already. I got out the clothes I started saving from the twins when I found out I was pregnant with him (they were 9 months old) and he's already wearing Ethan's 9 and 12 month outfits! I mentioned in my last post that I was going to introduce some rice cereal since we got the go-ahead from his dr. at the 4 month appt. and I did that about 4 weeks ago, it did not go over very well. I have tried a little every day mixed with breastmilk, I've tried it with water, heated up, made thicker, thinner. He won't even open his mouth, I have to try to make him smile and then I sneek it in. He is okay with the taste of it, but he gags when he swallows-and it's not just a little gag, it's a whole body convulsion, and it makes his eyes water sometimes. So this week I decided to buy some squash, I thought maybe he just really isn't into cereal and wanted a different texture. Nope. So I'm going to stop for a long while and try again later. I'm in no rush except that some people say that if babies start eating solids, then that can help them sleep longer at night. He still gets up once or twice, but really I think it's just a habit for him and when I feed him it helps him get back to sleep. He's going to bed around 8pm, then waking to eat somewhere around 2-4am, then sleeping until 6:30am. Napping is good some days and very very bad other days. He's really a happy little guy, but fights sleep very well and just doesn't seem to need a whole lot of it. Everything with Jack is so different than how it was with Amber and Ethan. They loved cereal early on and were sleeping through the night by 4 months and taking two solid naps during the day. I guess I need to just stop comparing them!
Here is a picture of Amber holding Jack, he's almost as big as her!

Here's one of Ethan, he was able to reach the nearly empty (thankfully!) milk carton off the counter and dump it onto the floor, very quietly, as I was changing Jack's diaper just a few feet away! The best part was he tried three of four times to get up and run off because he knew he was in trouble, but he kept slipping and couldn't get away. Fun times. The other one is Ethan helping Brian with a project in our yard, we moved a bunch of rock and put down rubber mulch under the play structures. The last one is of Amber with her crazy curls.

And Hannah will officially be a 7th grader after tomorrow! This school year has flown by so fast.
