Girls Weekend!!

Hannah and I flew to Denver to visit our good friend, Amber. This is the first time that Hannah and I went off for a girls trip ogether since the twins were born. Since they turned a year and are no longer breastfeeding, I had no reason not to go somewhere, and Brian is more than capable of handling the twins by himself. He says that he had a great time alone with them too! We left Saturday morning and came back Sunday afternoon, so not too long of a trip, but definitely long enough to shop, eat out, get pedicures, and catch a movie (I hadn't been to the theater since sometime in 2006 and can't remember what movie I saw last)! So I had a great time being away and had absolutely no worries, no babysitter to check in with or rush back for. It was a great time and maybe Hannah and I can do it again after I'm done breastfeeding this next baby, so maybe early 2010?

Here are a few pictures, I snapped a few this morning as I caught up with our laundry, Ethan and Amber help me put clothes in the dryer. Also, our twin friends, William and Claire came over to play for a little while before lunch today. We are already back in the swing of things here.

can't wait for Halloween!!

I ordered Amber and Ethan's costumes today....I am so excited to get them. They will be little girl and boy lambs....and they will be soooo adorable!!

we finally have our refrigerator!! (and twins 15 month appt.)

Yayy! Our fridge came in on Saturday- we are so glad. The dented loaner was not keeping the temperature cool enough and we lost a lot of food and accidentally all drank milk that had gone bad. It was so gross!
Hannah and her volleyball team are doing well; they've won all 3 of their games so far. She's enjoying it more than soccer and has made some good friends from her team. We barely see her anymore with after school practices/games and her busy social life on the weekends. She has sleepovers almost every weekend! This has motivated her to finish all homework right away on Friday after school, she's not allowed to hang out with friends until it's finished.
Ethan is working on the second of his top molars and it is not going well. Amber has the first top one but the second one isn't popping through yet so she's been easier going than Ethan lately. They had their 15 month appointment today. Ethan weighs a whopping 24 pounds and is now in the 50th percentile, up from his 12 month appt when he was just over 20lbs and in the 20th percentile. Way to go, Bubba! Amber weighed in at 20 pounds 12 ounces, so she's about 3 lbs lighter than Ethan; she's still in the 15th-20th percentile like she's been. He is 32.5 inches tall and she's 31.5 inches, both in the 75th percentile for height! I took a picture of them on the table before the shots, there was no opportunity for an "after" photo and you wouldn't have wanted to see it anyway. There were a lot of tears. Brian was able to go along today so that was very helpful. Where were all those people that constantly stop me in the store and say "Awww....lucky......I've ALWAYS wanted to have twins"? Next time someone says it, I'll be sure to invite them along to go to their 18 month appointment.

Amber really likes climbing into the tupperware cabinet, Ethan sometimes tries to join her, but she pushes him out! She's has some things to learn about sharing. She's also become very attached to her fluffy blanket and her cow. Ethan doesn't care at all about that stuff and is playing a lot more independently lately. I recently put up our fall/Halloween decorations and they both noticed right away and weren't too sure of the scarecrow on the closet door. In the picture they are pointing at it and talking about it.

I've been watching Craigslist for some good deals on little tykes playgrounds and step 2 climbers and we've finally gotten a few more things for Amber and Ethan in the back yard. They still mostly like to play with the rocks and will fight over certain rock buckets, but now they have something new to explore. Also I finally got a picture of the two of them with their respective thumb sucking and double finger sucking/hair twirling.
They often climb into the laundry basket and try to keep the other one out, but this morning they were both pretty tired and sat together nicely while watching Clifford.
I'm still waiting to hear something about the refrigerator, Best Buy always seems to be helping a customer on the floor when I call them, so I'm waiting for them to return my call.
This pregnancy is going well so far; I've started some mild contractions already, but it's nothing serious. I'm almost 25 weeks! So hopefully no bedrest this time and everything will work out just fine.
