Playing in the backyard (Ethan showing off his new green crocs and dumping rocks; Amber, pouting because I won't give her a 'turn' with my camera.) She's been a handful lately and has been even more clingy, especially when I'm holding Jack.

Jack has been rolling since he was 3 weeks (at least). I didn't put him down for much tummy time early on because I was afraid he'd get trampled on by the twins. The first time I did it, he rolled within 5 seconds. He's been smiling since 4 weeks and talking/cooing since about 6 weeks. I am smiling because I got out of jury duty-yayyy! I was worried that I would have to take all of the babies down to the courthouse with me to prove my need for excusal. But when I called to see if I needed to report for orientation, they told me that I was excused, probably because I'm breastfeeding and I wrote on all of the paper work that I sent in that I'd have to bring all of them with me if they made me go. My mom encouraged me to just go ahead and take the kids if I needed to, and to purposely nurse Jack in a NON-DISCREET manner, make sure the twins were good and overtired, crabby and loud, and then ask again to be excused. I was like, "ummm, I really don't want to do that", and I'm so happy I don't have to!
Little Jack has been smiling so much lately, it's so much fun. In fact, he even had a really really good laugh a few weeks ago, and I missed it because I was at the dentist! (The first time I left him home with Brian and the twins) He hasn't laughed since then, but at least Daddy, Bubba and Amber all got to see it that day. We've been keeping ourselves very busy and Jack has learned to nap on the go. His routine is so different than what I did with Amber and Ethan, which it has to be since the twins have a pretty intense social life. We do Rhythm and Movement class, Playgroup with the Ventana Ranch Mom's club, we have playdates with friends from church, and playdates with friends from the Albuquerque Moms of Twins club, and I recently joined MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)-which I LOVE!! So we are pretty busy most mornings of the week and then we fit in grocery shopping on our slow days. One major difference with Jack's routine is where he sleeps for a nap, it could be in the car seat, in the vibrating/bouncy chair, or in his swing if we're home. I was so strict about making sure that Amber and Ethan slept in their cribs at naptime and that they put themselves to sleep. It's not possible to do all of that with this little guy, but, hopefully he's adjusting to this craziness just fine. I'm hoping that once he's a little older and takes two solid naps per day, that his second nap will line up with the twin's nap in the afternoon and that I'll get Jack into his crib for that one. I don't know what I'd do without the swing and bouncy chair this time around! He's also doing well with bedtime, getting up just once in the night if he goes down around 9-10pm and he's up for the day around 6-7am. Not too bad! But who knows where we'll be after this weekend since the time change always screws everything up with the little ones.
Hannah left for her spring break visit with her dad yesterday. I think she likes going and being the only child for a little while, although, she does miss Amber, Ethan and Jack. She's recently gotten very into the Twilight book series and can read one of those big books in a day! I used to read like that too when I was younger, now I am lucky to fit in a few articles from my magazines. Since I don't have to pick her up from school this week, it will be easier to transition into this time change because there will be no stressing about what time the twins have to go down and wake up from nap in order to pick her up at 3:15. I could always have her stay after school and go to study hall, but apparently, that is "totally lame" and then it's harder for me to pick her up, because you have to physically enter the middle school and sign her out. So with three babies in tow, I'd rather just pick her up in the pull through after school and not have to get all of us out of the van.
Hannah also recently was asked to babysit- her first REAL babysitting job for another family. Our neighbors have two little boys and they were going to use her on Friday night, but then the youngest one got sick and they cancelled. She was bummed but it worked out well since her flight on Saturday morning was pretty early. All for now- enjoy the pictures!
